West-A-Wake Eggs was founded in 1914 by Richard Mulhern, whose entrepreneurial spirit saw him collect eggs from the local farmers and sell them to local shops in the West of Ireland. West- A -Wake Eggs remains very much a family business, now run by Noel Mulhern, Richard Mulhern's grandson.
We celebrated 100 years in business in 2014, an achievement that we are very proud of. Over the years we have learned to adapt our business to meet the expectations of large scale retail operations and in response to changing consumer tastes. We are very pro-active in our approach to this. In 1990 West-A-Wake Eggs built a new egg production plant and packing centre to the highest EU specifications.
We are accredited member of the An Bord Bia Egg Quality Assurance Scheme. This is a code of best practice covering both egg production and egg packing. Because our eggs are produced and packed in accordance with the requirements of the code we are eligible to carry the Quality Assured Logo on our packs.
We operate a comprehensive HACCP system to ensure all our eggs are fully quality assured with full traceability to date of laying, production house and flock. Find out more about our egg production and packing process.
